Sea of Souls began in Virginia Beach in 1991 a vision of Andrew McNeely’s design. He was lucky enough to have high caliber musicians trust his vision and it very quickly led to a strong local following. After selling thousands of self-recorded cassette demos they landed a deal with Trumpeter records and released “Titanic” in 1994. Local radio took notice and had the track “Heroine” in rotation for seven years. And the album made it to the top ten nationally in the hard 100 CMJ magazine. Titanic was followed soon after by “Feed the Machinery” of which Billboard magazine said “unlike a lot of other new bands these guys don’t sound like anybody” which were welcome words for the band. The years passed and national attention seemed just out of fingertips grasp. Yet they persevered, recording 4 more CDs and opening for the likes of White Zombie, Cheap Trick and Kid Rock. Around 2003 SOS took an extended hiatus but decided to get back to the music in 2013. Look for new music in the near future.
