Alec Edmonds is a 27 year old singer-songwriter from Smithfield, Virginia. He has been writing songs and performing for over 12 years now. A musician by nature, he plays numerous instruments such as guitar and piano  since he was 10 years old. 

Alec's unique bass voice with a brassy undertones distinguishes his vocals to shine across all genres. Alec has performed in front of crowds as large as 40,000+ and has opened for music superstars such as Morgan Wallen, Old Dominion, Kane Brown, Scotty McCreery, Darius Rucker, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, The Beach Boys, Rodney Atkins, Lee Brice, Sara Evans, Kip Moore, Joe Nichols and many more. He has played countless shows ranging from performing at local bars, weddings, private events to massive festivals opening for national acts. 

Alec is a graduate of Belmont University in Nashville where he received a BA in Music Business.

The JD3 Band is based out Hampton, Virginia. The group got its start after jamming together for the first time at a New Years Eve party in 2020. The chemistry of the band was instantly apparent and songs were flowing out one after the other. With the organic, improvisational nature of the trio, it was obvious right from the start that this was to be an original band to be reckoned with. Just over a year later, JD3 released their first single, "Hard Drivin Woman", on January 7th, 2022.

Centered around frontman James Dowdy's (JD) unique blues and rock influences on guitar, the band has hints of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer and many more that come through in the music. Live performances are geared toward improvising and letting the room take the music to new levels. With our newest member Tom Bess on bass and Cole Morgan behind the drum kit, JD3 brings a new sound into a familiar genre.

JD3 released their first EP on July 30th, 2020.

You could say “Gone Country” was formed in December of 2022, and technically, you’d be right. However, if you want to learn the true origin story of this Richmond, VA based, “Neotraditional Country” band, you’ll have to go back in time to the early-2000’s. 
Now, you may not be aware of this, but that’s when the Mainstream tried to kill Country Music. You see, they thought no one would notice if they started replacing steel guitars and fiddles with snap beats and auto tuned vocals... But they were wrong. It just so happened that two boys from Virginia took notice, and vowed they would fight against mainstream Nashville to honor their hero’s who were kicked out of Country Music.
They didn’t know it at the time, but nearly two decades later, their paths would cross. Who were they, you ask? None other than the founders of “Gone Country”, Trace Nixon and John Holden. So, call it fate... call it destiny, if you will - But make no mistake, this has been a “band in the making” for nearly 20 years. And now, they’re goin’ to kick out the footlights.

With a Rockabilly focus, the band formed in 2014 around father/son duo Dan Spivey [Rhythm Guitar and Vocals] and Cory Spivey [Lead Vocals and Lead Guitar]. Bonded by Sam Haga [bass] and Angel Lopez [drums], Lucky 757 delivers the classic sounds of the 50’s and 60’s with original style.

Back in 2010, Daniel went with a friend to a Keith Urban concert where he was pulled on stage with 2 others to sing with the country star. Afterwards, having had a long held dream of having his own band, Daniel had the support of a friend and owner of a local pizza joint and bar to come and perform a solo acoustic gig. His community turned out to support him and another friend, Robbie Raper did his sound. The very next month, Daniel and Robbie played together and the rest is history. It’s hard to nail an exact moment when Good Shot Judy came to life.

It could have been when brothers Brett and Jeff Cahoon stepped away from the success they’d achieved with their punk band Ten Years from Now and chose instead to see what they could do with the old-time jazz standards they’d admired for so long. The brothers Cahoon formed a small combo, and – wouldn’t you know it? – plenty of others felt the same groove.

Or maybe it was when an inside joke made a name for itself. Their mother, Judy Cahoon, is an avid golfer, and just as common as pars and birdies were three words of encouragement shouted by a supportive friend, who pumped a fist and hollered across the fairway every time she took a swing: “Good shot, Judy!” It became a funny family warble among the Cahoons – and as it turns out, a solid band name, too.

Or perhaps that moment of creation arrived when Good Shot Judy freed their potential energy. Keen to give the classic melodies the respect and attention – as well as the power – that it deserved, the Cahoons filled out Good Shot Judy with a full complement of horns, percussion and vocals. And magic happened: an ensemble that was bigger than the sum of its parts.

In a sense, Good Shot Judy was already in the stars long ago, during those formative decades from the 1930s on, when small jazz combos, big brass bands and the crooners who sang on top of them were forging an enduring style and repertoire that would be written into the DNA of American music.

But really, all these had a hand in making Good Shot Judy what is today: a big amp jazz band that sets stages aflame nationwide.

Audiences may never consider that the Good Shot Judy show they’re seeing has been an evolution. They’re too captivated by the sound and spectacle of music that reaches through the time. They’re too caught up in performance that has one foot dancing in the past and one in the here and now.

A Good Shot Judy show offers all those tunes you know just from growing up in American – songs you can at least hum along to, if you don’t outright know most of the words. But the music itself is only part of the band’s allure; there’s something electric in the execution, and it’s that vigor that carries the day as much as the pull of recognition.

So, yeah, there’s a history. And it’s a big one. Bigger than any one person. Bigger than any one band, for that matter. But Good Shot Judy is as close as it comes to an intersection between an era’s defining sound and the pleasure of enjoying it the way it was meant to be heard.

The Hampton Education Foundation (H.E.F.) Fest is an evening celebrating our educators of Hampton City Schools and supporting the various programs run by the Hampton Education Foundation.

Join us for the third annual evening of live, local music at the Vanguard in Downtown Hampton-all to benefit Hampton City Schools. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with the opportunity to order from the full Vanguard menu, then stay for the Blue Bear All-Star Band beginning at 7:30 p.m., with special musical guests Mayor Donnie Tuck, Vice Mayor Jimmy Gray, and School Board Vice-Chair Tina Banks-Gray. Proceeds from sponsorships and ticket sales benefit the Hampton Education Foundation.

Who is HEF?

The Hampton Education Foundation (HEF) raises private support to drive innovation, encourage creativity, expand student opportunities, and empower educators to strengthen teaching and learning throughout Hampton City Schools (HCS). HEF began in 2001 and is led by a volunteer board that manages two special programs: the Annual Teacher Grant Program -- giving away $40,000 to our educators for innovative classroom ideas that engage students; and $7,000 for graduating seniors as they seek to continue their education beyond high school.

Widely Grown is an Americana/AltFolk band from Jersey City, New Jersey. Widely Grown released their debut album in the summer of 2022 and toured 9 states to follow. The Widely Grown boys are known for their energetic live performances that contain their unique blend of rock, country, grass and soul. 2023 saw them travelin’ again, performing at the Barefoot Country Music Festival, Maplewoodstock, touring through 6 states and performing for the legendary throw down at Miguels Pizza celebration in Kentucky.

2024 has them releasing NEW MUSIC. an EP recorded live at Thundersound Studios in Kentucky. Mississippi Anna dropped March 8th! This EP takes off where Pickles left off. It’s fun. Doesn’t take itself too seriously. James wrote a batch of tunes that emulate the live energy of their shows currently. Big analog sounds.

A seemingly endless road trip during lockdown was enough time to come home with a new album. Between sleep under the stars, swimming in alpine lakes and cooking up dinner by the campfire with his wife and dog, James Calleo created Widely Grown.

In an effort to keep the album true to the songwriting process, James remained on the acoustic guitar. Digging hard into the Americana and country vibes of the mid to western United States.

If you dig the vibe of the Wood Brothers, Caamp, Railroad Earth and the Grateful Dead, you’ll dig these guys.

Local Jersey City fiddler, Sean-David Cunningham, and drummer Dave DeRiso fit right in, along with upright bassist, Dave Lockhart. Lockhart brought forth his invaluable recording and touring experiences with Lake Tahoe's, Dead Winter Carpenters.

After Widely Grown played their debut show at Jersey City's White Eagle Hall, Lockhart received a message from Fruition drummer, Tyler Thompson, whom the DWC had toured with years back, saying he's got time to take on a project.

3 months later, Widely Grown was driving out to Studio 110 outside of Pittsburgh to record the album.

3 days is all it took. With Thompson's "do it live" approach, the gang went in and laid down ten songs with all the lead instruments, including lead vocals, being live.

"I've learned a little here and there from past experiences," Calleo said. "I told Tyler, if I leave here and anything is incomplete, I'm going to change my mind. I don't want to be able to change my mind."

The lead single, Pickles, is a fun summer time bop about...well, having a good time. Pickles, came out of nowhere about two weeks ahead of the recording session. "I was thinking about my time backpacking in India almost 10 years ago, where I found myself with my now wife, sitting on a rock watching the sun go down. We had a great view and my guitar, so naturally others kept climbing up to the same vantage point, with beers, fruits and guitars. We just sang the night away."

"There's no place I'd rather be," the hook line; seems to be foreshadowing future tunes in the album like, Living in the Moment. It's plain to see there were some mental hardships and daydreams throughout the past two years.

The Ben Phelps Project is a five-piece band from Virginia that focuses on creating a style all their own merging elements of jazz, acoustic folk, blues, and rock into a melting pot of southern soul featuring soaring saxophone and guitar solos. The BPP has played shows throughout the East Coast since its inception in 2004 highlighted by performances with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Colbie Callait, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Michelle Branch, Cracker, Carbon Leaf, Pat McGee, Taylor Hicks, The Romantics, Good Old War, Chicago, and Cowboy Mouth.
